Recap of Literary Upstart

So I went to L Magazine's reading yesterday and I have to say I wasn't very impressed. What was the point of these navel gazing pieces? I mean, besides navel gazing?? The one that I did like (Men Kill Things), except for some assorted and rather vivid mouse cruelties, won and goes on to the semi-finals. That one did have a point. So there!
